# Search
By using the search-input on the start-page, you can search openpot for artist and music. A "common" search, searches the member-names and their profiles.
To search for tracks prefix your search-term

Now all track-names and track-descriptions will be searched. E.g.:

# Play track
Everywhere you see the
-symbol, you can play the corresponding track by clicking the symbol.2>
# Register
The registration on openpot is 100% free. You can choose if you want to register as an user or artist. You should register as an user when you want to use openpot for downloading music, and you are not making music which you could offer. In order to upload music and distribute over openpot, you need an artist-account.
All fields of your registration are required. Fill them truthfully. Your data will not get published and/or refered to third parties. Please be advised to give a valid E-mail address, because you will need it to activate your profile.2>
# Activate profile
When your registration is completed, you will receive an E-mail to your given address from us. You will find a authentication-link in your mail. The link will activate your profile. Click the link or copy/paste it to your address bar of your browser.2>
# Send authentication-link again
In case that you did not receive the authentication-link although you gave a valid E-mail address, please look in your spam-folder first. In case you did not receive the E-mail you can send it to you again. Try to log-in with your E-mail address and your password. You get an error notice, saying that your profile isn't activated. Next to it you find the link "send authentication-link again". Follow the instructions.2>1>
# Log-in
Use your during your registration given E-mail address and password to log-in. In case the log-in fails although you gave the right data, make sure that your profile is already activated. You have to accept (session-)cookies to use the site. Check your browser settings if necessary.2>
# Download a track
Everywhere you see the
-symbol you can download the corresponding track by clicking the symbol.2>
# Password recovery
In case that you have forgotten your password, you can send it to yourself. A failed log-in try will show you the link "forgot password?" in the error notice. Click it and follow the instructions. The password will be sent to the E-mail address you gave during your registration.2>
# Change password
If your are logged in you can find the block "Personal data" on your own profile. Use the block to set up a new password. Klick the "Send"-button to save your change.2>
# Play playlists
Everywhere you see the
-symbol you can play the corresponding playlist by clicking on the symbol. You can use the openpot-player to skip through the list or to shuffle it. You have to be logged in to play playlists.2>

# Write a message
You can write a message to every member of openpot. Use the block "Messages" and click on "New". Enter in "Recipient" the name of the profile of the recipient. In case you are on his/her profile the name is entered automatically. Write your message and click the "Send"-button. To write messages you have to be logged in.3>
# Answer messages
A received message can be answerd quickly by clicking the
-symbol, which you can find next to the message.3>
# Delete message
You can delete received messages only. Sent messages cannot get deleted by yourself. To remove a message from your inbox click the
-symbol which you can find next to the message. To delete messages you have to be logged in.3>2>

# Set up timezone
Use your "Personal data" block to set up your timezone. Give your timezone to the fild "GMT" and click the "Send"-button to save the change. E.g. "1.00" for Berlin, and so on. For negative timezones prefix a "-", e.g. "-5.00" for New York. Setting up a timezone has the effect that all your times will be converted to your local time.3>2>
# Set up profile
# Upload image
Use the block "Upload" to upload an image. Your uploaded image will be adjusted automatically. It is recommendable to upload images in landscape format. When you upload a new image, your existing image will be overridden by the new one.
(Hint: You can also upload animated (gif-)images. The animation will survive the automatic adjustment in case your image has the exact measures "491x184px".)3>
# Delete image
Use the block "Delete" to delete your image. Click on "Delete image". In case you want to replace your image you can just upload a new one. The existing will be overridden by the new.3>

# Playlists
# Create a new playlist
When you are logged in and on your profile you will find the block "playlists" on the left. Below your existing playlists you find the field "Create new playlist". Give the name of your new playlist and click on "Send".3>
# Add a track to a playlist
Use the blocks "last downloaded" and "last played" which you will find on the left on your own profile. Next to the tracks in the blocks there is a blue plus-symbol. Click the symbol and after that the name of the playlist you want to add the track to. To add tracks to playlists you have to create at least one new playlist before.3>
# Remove a track from a playlist
When you are logged in and on your profile you will find the block "playlists" on the left. Open the playlist from which you want to remove a track. Click the red cross next to the track you want to remove. You only can remove tracks from new created playlists.3>
# Set playlist visible/invisible
When you are logged in and on your profile you will find the block "playlists" on the left. Next to playlists which are new created you will find the eye-symbol:
. Click it to set up if the playlist shall be shown publicly or only for yourself.3>2>1>
# Tracks
# Upload a track
Use the block "Upload" in your profile to publish your tracks. After uploading you will be asked for the track's name and its description. Please be advised that that is the only chance for defining a name and a description. Uploaded tracks have a minimum runtim of three months. You cannot delete a track before its runtime has expired (unless you delete your whole profile, of course).
Follow the notices which are shown after your upload.3>
# Delete a track
Use the block "Delete" in your profile. There you will find a list containing your uploaded tracks. You see the current runtime and the "Delete"-button. Click the corresponding button to remove the track from your profile.
Only tracks with expired runtime can be deleted.3>
# Set play/download-counter visible/invisible
When you are logged in and on your profile you will find the eye-symbol
below your track-list. Click the symbol to hide or show the amount of plays and downloads of your tracks. The numbers will remain visible for yourself in either case.3>2>
# Check your account
Use the block "Account" which you can find on your own profile (be sure that you are logged in). There you can find an overview over your current account, the plays and the downloads.
